Freshman Tigers Set for Three Tournaments

Updated: Oct 25, 2018

The Freshman Tigers have entered into three different tournaments: The Intro (Robinson), Hot Springs Lakeside and Holiday Hoops Tournament (North Little Rock).

Central will open its season against Jacksonville in the first round of The Intro. The Freshman Tigers are slated for a second-round matchup versus either Bryant or Mills University Studies. The loaded field also includes North Little Rock, Baptist Prep, Sylvan Hills and host-team Robinson fill out the opposite side of the bracket.

The Tigers will also face Catholic on their lone off-day during tournament action, opening the season with four games in four days.

For the other two tournaments, the Freshman Tigers will divide into two teams, Central Black and Central Gold. Central will open their December schedule with the Hot Springs Lakeside tournament. In the first round, Central Black faces Camden Fairview while Central Gold plays Hot Springs in their hometown. Lakeside, Malvern and J.A. Fair make up the rest of the teams in the field.

After Christmas, Central's Black and Gold teams will join 14 other teams in one of the most competitive freshman tournament fields found anywhere in the state. Central Black faces Jacksonville in first-round action, a rematch just one month after The Intro; Central Gold takes on Sylvan Hills. With the tournament consisting of 16 teams in total and the Tigers dividing into two teams, every Freshman Tiger will have the opportunity to play significant minutes in each of their respective team's four games.

These Freshman Tigers will play a strong schedule featuring three highly-competitive tournaments, as well as matchups with several JV teams. The future is bright for Tiger Basketball, and it starts with a strong freshman program! We're excited to coach these young men and watch them grow in the classroom, on the court and in all other aspects of life.
